Welcome to Mystery Classroom!

What is It?

Mystery Classroom is an interactive conversation between two classes where students are trying to guess the other class's location. It is often called Mystery Skype, but I wanted to open it up to other platforms like Google Hangout and FaceTime, based on teacher preference.

Teachers can run their Mystery Classroom sessions any way they'd like, but many of them contain the same basic ideas:
   1)  Students generate Yes or No questions to ask before the date of the event. (You could keep this in a Google Doc so both parties can access them.) You may even want to preview questions ahead of time so you and your students will be prepared.
   2)  Assign roles to students. Some common roles are: researchers, greeters, questioners, and closers. It all depends on what you need!
   3)  Practice! Make sure students are prepared. You may want to play your own game of Mystery Classroom with your students so they know what to expect.

For further information regarding Mystery Classroom, I recommend checking out Mr. Solarz' website: How to Set Up and Run Mystery Skype

Why Use It?

* Curriculum Connections -
       Connect with a classroom in the same town as your read-aloud!
       Meet students who live in the climate zone you're studying
       Interact with children who live in the same historical city you're learning about
* Builds Critical Thinking & Student Leadership
* Encourages Global Collaboration
* It's fun!

Interested?

If you're interested, sign up below in the Google Doc. This is a live document, meaning everyone can add their names. It also means that if you change your mind, you can take your name off.
Please make sure you include your name, location, grade and subject, and e-mail address so other people can contact you.

Cheers to making global connections and having fun learning!
